Stroller Accessories – Are they Worth It?

Taking a look at the over abundance of strollers and strollers accessories out there, makes you wonder; do they help or hinder you? It is all a matter of what you want and need as a parent. Some think that some stroller accessories are unnecessary and some parents think that they are very much a necessity. Let’s take a look at some common pros and cons of stroller accessories; it might shed some light on things!
Rain Covers / Sun Covers:
Pros: They keep your child protected from the elements and safe from harmful UV rays.
Cons: They can be bulky and get moldy if not put away dry.

Baby Jogger Recall
Baby Jogger has issued a recall on certain City Mini Single and Double strollers. So far they have not received any types of injury reports, but want to keep you, the consumer safe; they are voluntarily recalling these strollers. Baby Jogger is currently working together with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission to make this a smooth transition.
Problem: The recall is on the stroller’s buckle. The current buckles have a tendency to release when the stroller is in use.
City Mini 67100
Strollers Affected: The affected strollers are marked with the item number below and one of the following manufacturing date codes. The item numbers are found on the original box or on a sticker on the rear wheel crossbar. The manufacturing code is on the outside of the original box and is engraved on the frame (on the rear wheel axle crossbar or the upright bar between the right rear wheel and the seat).
Item Numbers: 67100, 67170, 67102, 67172, 67173, 67103, 67104, 67174, 67105, 67175, 67109, 67179
Manufacturing Codes: 2007.11.1 through 2009.2.28 (please note that there is no recall on strollers made after 2/28/2009)
Resolution: If you have one of these strollers, please contact either the store you purchased the stroller or Baby Jogger. They will be able to send you out replacement buckles for your stroller. Please have the model number and manufacturer date ready when you call.
We all understand that keeping our children safe is our duty as parents, grandparents or family members. Baby Jogger recognizes it as well. So we owe it to our children to take the time to check their strollers and comply with any and all recalls that may occur. So, please keep an eye out for further details in regards to this recall.We will be sure to update you on any and all changes as soon as we hear about them.

BabyPlanet – A better world for your child.

With all of the talk about Going Green, one of the top stroller manufacturers who stand out by making their strollers good for the environment, is BabyPlanet. With lines like the Eden Bassinet, the Endangered Species Strollers, the Solo Sport Strollers and the Unity Sport Strollers; this company has a loaded product line.
My favorite line is the Endangered Species line. BabyPlanet has teamed with the Wildlife Conservation Society and developed this line of strollers around endangered animals; lemur leaf frog, monarch butterfly, snow leopard and tiger. $5 from every stroller sale goes to the WCS. So not only are these strollers stylish, they help the environment and the animals that inhabit it.

Foundations Strollers – What can they offer me?

After writing stroller reviews on the popular stroller brands, I just wanted to let you know about some strollers that are not as well known. Foundations is a company who specializes in quality children’s products. While they offer great items like changing tables, cribs and child care centers; the products we want to look at would be their double strollers and triple strollers.
All of the Foundations Strollers have great features and benefits, like comfortable seating with independent recline positions, individual easy-to-use harnesses, and canopies to block out the sun or bad weather. They all include the innovative braking system, Safebrake, which activates the brakes automatically when the parent lets go of the handle. And they also built in foot activated brakes for when the stroller is parked. And they offer a one year warranty on workmanship and manufacturer’s defects.

Schwinn & InSTEP – Behind the Scenes

Seeing all of the reviews on this blog for Schwinn & InSTEP strollers, made me want to look into the background of the company. Both stroller brands have been created by the same company. This parent company is Pacific Cycle, Inc.; a division of Dorel Industries, Inc. Pacific Cycle is a global leader in branded consumer products, with brands such as Schwinn, Mongoose, InSTEP, Schwinn Motorsports, Kid Trax, Playsafe, Roadmaster, Pacific, Dyno and Powerlite. While most of these brands are bicycle oriented, they have expanded into the jogging stroller market and dominated.
The Schwinn brand is mainly known for their bicycles. Domination in this market made the company look for other ways to expand their business.
